The most important thing to do if you want to be a successful VA this year

Is THIS the year you make the leap into the VA world?

If so, yay! Welcome. It’s a choice you won’t regret (because I NEVER have, even 6.5 years later!)

But……..how can you make sure you’re a SUCCESSFUL VA this year? I mean, it’s all well and good starting a VA biz, but what if it fizzles out? Or doesn’t bring you a consistent income?

Well there’s 1 really important thing to do if you want to be successful this year, and luckily for you I’m diving straight into that thing in this week’s blog post:

Decide you’re going to make it happen.

That’s it.

I’m not going to overload this blog post with all the things you COULD or SHOULD do, because actually deciding you’re going to make a success of it is a massive thing to work on, and that’s because there are so many parts of this decision.

Yes, you can learn new skills. Yes, you can learn how to successfully market your business. Yes, you can enrol in a high quality course designed by an experienced VA Mentor (ahem, head this way if this sounds like your cup of tea).

But unless you’ve actually DECIDED to make a success of it, you won’t.

I mean, you mayyyyyyy stumble across success as you sit back with a cup of tea and scroll through Instagram. Maybe.

But more likely to happen is that you might flit between tasks. You might put things off until you feel ready. You might decide to stick it out at your 9-5 for another year. You might decide to wait until a client finds you.

But when you’ve actually decided that you want to be a VA and you’re going to bloody make that happen, you absolutely will. When you decide that it’s absolutely the right choice for you, you’ll make it happen. When you are driven by your own really emotive reasons for wanting it to happen, you’ll make the damn thing happen.

Keep on reading to find out the 2 parts of the deciding element…..

The deciding checklist

There are 2 parts of deciding you’re going to make a success of your VA business:

  1. Work out what success means to you. Your version of success could be completely different to mine, so it’s super important to get clear on what being successful means to you. Otherwise how will you know when you get there? Do identify your version of success, write down the most important things in your life / your values and choose a couple to use as markers. For example if spending more time with your children is super important to you, having a VA business that allows you to do every single school run could be a good success marker.

  2. Decide you’re going to make it happen. There’s something really powerful about deciding to make something happen, so using your success markers make a commitment to yourself that you are 100% going to hit that marker.

This doesn’t mean that your journey to success will be a straight line (mine wasn’t!) but it does mean you’re committed to getting there.

    Tip: Avoid language like ‘I’ll try to……’ or ‘I'm hoping I can…..’

So to make a success of your VA business this year, back yourself, invest in yourself and learn whatever you need to learn to make it happen. You can ABSOLUTELY do this!
